Dashcams fall into two categories non-connected (stand-alone with on-board SD Card) and connected (with on-board sim enabling live recording/viewing/notifications). They can both record HD video and have a G-Sensor which records harsh braking or acceleration.

Non-connected dashcams require customers to remove the SD card and download their footage in order to review it. Connected dashcams, with 3G/4G SIM enable customers to receive instant notifications with incident video clips attached and connect to a cloud platform which automatically stores any footage of driving incidents and GPS location data, vehicle speed, and accurate time/date. They can automatically notify multiple parties including an insurer and can help to increase the speed of claim resolution.

A dashcam can help your customers to prove who is at fault if an incident occurs. Some insurers will offer a discount if one is fitted to a vehicle.
