In 1999 our founder Paul had a vision – infrared night vision to be precise – Paul worked with a leading manufacturer to design and produce the world's first IR Bullet Camera, and he was determined to bring his cutting-edge technology to the mass market.

Despite the massive potential of Paul’s new IR night vision cameras and the foundations they would lay for the future of surveillance technology, major installers and distributors couldn’t see what Paul saw and refused to sell the product. So he decided to do it himself.

Y3K was founded in February 2000 with the sole aim of designing and supplying cutting-edge security products.

During the first 20 years we launched products that changed the security industry forever - including Wi-Fi cameras, DVRs, IP cameras, Dashcams and Video Telematics, for which the company has been awarded multiple patents worldwide.

In 2021 we had our biggest commercial success to date when SmartWitness, which was originally the Video Telematics division of Y3K, was sold to Sensata Technologies, Inc.

Over the next two decades, we will continue to listen to and support our customers by developing innovative products and services that cater to their evolving needs.
